Mauritius trip

first of all,
thank you guys for voting and enable us to visit mauritius at a cheaper rate.

it was a 5 days 3 nights trip (26th june '10 - 30th june '10)

right now,
it is supposed to be 11.49am (mauritius time)
where we are just lazing around after breakfast.
=)

the plane ride was uncomfortable for me.

i vomited several times in the plane.
haha!
nothing new.
the partner already knew when i wanted to vomit and he prepared several bags for me.

after the 7 hours flight,
we touched down at sir seewoosagur ramgoolam international airport and continue our journey by van.

there were a lot of sugarcane plantation.
rows and rows and rows of them.
even from the plane,
you can already see the sugarcane plantation.
the road to the hotel was winding and it took us about 1.5 hours to get to the residence.

when we checked in,
there was a personal butler who offered to unpack our luggages,
but we refused his service as we rather do it ourselves.
the hotel room was nice and quite spacious.
it has a balcony.
what i really like is the toilet.
it is so big!

cool isn't it?
a shower area, bathtub, changing area.
now now,
i wish my house toilet is like that.
haha!

once we are settled,
we explored the beach.

we were so jakun-s!
because it was our first time seeing clear waters.
and we swam a bit in the freezing beach before our dinner.

the night view.

the breakfast was the only meal we always looked forward to!
because it is something similar to our style.

fruits, bread.
and the sugarcane juice is very very nice!
so sweet, unlike singapore's.

dinner was mostly french cuisine and we were not used to it.
what i observed was that the dishes were salty over there.
and they will always served us bread first.
i love the mini baguette there.

on the 27th june,
a sunday,

we took a 10 minutes walk to the nearest souvenirs shops.

and every time we entered into a shop,
without fail there were dodo bird magnets, keychains, shirts, etc.
i mean in singapore,
it is the merlion.
while in mauritius it is the extinct dodo bird.
the partner and i even bought a souvenir for our own house (which we haven't have yet)
haha.

once we reached the hotel,
it was relaxing time!
just chilling by the beach and pool doing nothing.

i tell you i got so tanned there!

even though the sun was hot,
it was windy and it made me sleepy.
i did take a short nap while watching the partner and his parents playing in the water.

and oh yes!
we snorkeled!
we took a boat that had a clear transparent plastic at the bottom so that we can see
the fishes and coral reefs.
once we reached the location,
*plop* *plop* *plop*
off the partner, his dad and i went into the waters!
initially it was hard breathing through the mouth.
i kept taking off the masks to breathe through my nose.
but eventually,
i did it!
i've managed to snorkel with ease.

after snorkeling,
we pedal a boat.
=)

after those water activities,
we were all hungry!
since it was a half-board trip,
we had room service to fill our stomach.

delicious food!

how can i forget?
every evening,
we would watch world cup matches in the guys' hotel room before heading to dinner.

when it was time for our dinner,
the four of us were already sleepy.
because it was already midnight (singapore time) and the lighting there was so dim.
so we ate our dinner slowly.
haha!
all stoned faced while eating dinner.

on the 28th june,
a monday,
we planned to head to the capital,
port louis for shopping.

and that monday was also the partner's results day!
i was the first to see his results.
=)
congratulations honey!
we both have officially finish with school!
masters maybe after few years of marriage.
haha!
tengok la keadaan.

it was an hour ride to port louis.
it was a nice place,
just that there were many people and traffic was a nightmare.

i wished we could stay there a little bit longer to shop for more.
because when i came back,
i realised that i didn't buy enough souvenirs.

once we came back to the hotel,
we swam again.

the night sky was so incredible!
the partner and i saw stars, stars, stars!
we cannot even count them!
i was totally amazed by the sight.

the 29th june,
a tuesday was our last day there.

we took in as much as we could.

and for the last time,
we swam!

and the last activity we did together was collecting seashells!
that was one of my favourite moments.
as i saw the partner sat down to find the seashells,
i was at peace and i was filled with happiness.
i know that is the guy that i'm in love with and that is the guy i'm getting married to.
i'm thankful.

never in my life that i swam 4 days straight!
the trip was a relaxing one.

even though i dislike the journey and i kept vomiting,
at the end of the day,
i am thankful to be able to visit mauritius and witness god's gifts.
that was one great trip!

honey,
congratulations to us!
